I am also American I can speak Spanish, French and German fluentley. I prefer the song to be sung in Spanish. As for our government or the arrogance of some in my nation the USA. Well some that are not educated or don't care to educate themselves with other histories is their choice. The great thing in our nation is we have CHOICE. As long as I have that I will stay and love America forever. But others do need to educate themselves with others histories and traditions. WOW SHAKIRA WOW

I think he means that he wouldn't want to be American because he would be ashamed of the government if he were, but he isn't judging American culture or the integrity of individual people. And as an American myself I can say that the culture of the nation IN GENERAL is very arrogant, especially towards other countries and cultures. And this doesn't reflect well on us from other people's points of view.

You cannot judge and entire nation based on what their government does politically and by the obviously few Americans you have met. Perhaps you don't realize that whatever country your from, we're all human. It's people like you who are stuck up and IGNORANT that have the problem.

It isnt about me! never was! Im not proud of the stupid shit many of the leaders of this country have allowed, but I cant change that overnight,& I certainly cant do it alone. Most of it wasnt even supported by the public. Most of the people I know are raving at these "leaders", asking where did their promises go? & I don't even c how wanting to b treated as an individual is a problem. We need change here I will admit that. & yet, wat the hell do u know other than the stereotypes u heard about?

D= you are just like your country. america today = just like teenager, it cries against injustice, but creates a ton in other countries, also amongst yourselves. the problem with america = all folks want to be treated as an individual. but the problem = it lays in your nation. if my words seem insuting to you, than perhaps you should use them to change your nation.

what gives you the right to judge an entire nation?! You do realize that people aren't stuffed into personality molds based on where they come from, right? Hell, people don't get a choice of where they are born! Judge people individually and only after you get to know them! You don't have to be so insulting! Seriously!
