Haha, that was actually the theme of that episode. Anybody with even a slight brain problem could not use the stream, and were looked down upon. The main character was one such person and is looked down upon for reading books instead of streaming them. By our standards we would consider him a very intelligent person, but in his world, he is slow and useless.

In the scientific field that would be incredibly amazing, being able to know anything at any time. But I have to fear that if this technology was available to everyone, it might have some drastic consequences. There wouldn't really be any diversity in intelligence(other than the Arts). Not to mention any schools or the need for books.

There's an outer limits episode that directly relates to what he talks about at the end. I believe it's called "The Stream." Essentially, it's about a time in the future where everyone simply wears these neural implants and can upload information to themselves via an internet-like "stream". It's incredible that this is actually being developed outside of science-fiction.

Interesting! I wonder if they can devolop something enough to get sounds out of you brain and record them or play them through a loudspeaker. Like if you make up a song in your head but have no way to playing musical instruments for it, just record it off your brain as if a band was playing it. (I wish I could do that) Also I REALLY wish we could record (audio and video) dreams we have in the night. Those would be sooooo exciting to watch! So...Scientistis, GET TO WORK!!! NOW!
