:) Nevertheless, whoever wrote this song, that's a real great one...such amazing, and Reeves rendition is almost one of her best performance (in my humble opinion). Thanks again for posting. I wish I could have seen that show!

The liner notes on Reeves' Sarah Vaughan tribute, The Calling, say that Sarah devoted 3 albums to Brazilian music & on the last, Brazilian Romance, the high point was "Obsession," and I quote : "an intense psychological drama by Dori Caymmi, the Brazilian composer, guitarist, and singer." Both "The Calling" and Caymmi's own recording of the song ('Dori Caymmi' Electra/Musician 1988) show 'Dori Caymmi, Gilson Peranzetta, Tracy Mann' -in that order- as the authors.

Actually you are not quite right. The real composer of this song is famous Barry Mann. Dori Caymmi just put some ideas onto this song... I am a great fun of Ms. Reeves and know everything about her...I think this song is the best song that she' s ever sung. just superb!!! =)

Reeves HAS sung/recorded a Milton Nascimento song, I hope making it more famous, "Bridges" in English and "Travesia" in Portuguese.

this is the bridge of the arrangement of "obsession" from her tribute album to sarah vaughan. i think the song is by milton nascimento and the arrangement by billy childs. but check the sarah vaughan tribute for the full credits.
