Does anyone know if the documentary of him is in general release, "Who is Harry Nilson..."? It has been rated as one of the best musician related documentaries out there.

Well I'm English and know a lot about the Beatles and post-Beatles solo shit. I think Lennon and McCartney had a sort of crush on each other in the 60s and maybe Nilsson was a sort of blonde McCarntney (with a much superior voice) for John to continue his crush on?? The Hollywood Vampire shit helped too, of course. God, the seventies was such a do what the fuck you want decade. Love Nilsson, love Lennon, love the Beatles...

When John Lennon and Paul McCartney held a press conference in 1968 to announce the formation of Apple Corps, John was asked to name his favorite American artist. He replied, "Nilsson". Paul was then asked to name his favorite American group. He replied, "Nilsson". Nilsson and Randy Newman are in the "Cole Porter" range of American songwriters. In fact, they actually recorded together in 1970,"Nilsson Sings Newman" - a commercial flop but perhaps because they were ahead of their time.
