I remember wishing I had this computer because I saw Carrie Bradshaw had it in Sex and the City and Reese Witherspoon had it in Legally Blonde! haha Now I have the newest MacBook :)

Battery technology hasn't improved as much as processor or hard drive tech. Much larger hard drives need to spin faster to be of decent performance and the CPU's these days run at far far FAR higher speeds, so use more power. The FSB on the newer CPU's are faster than the actual clock speed on the ones you'd find back then.

Not neccesarily. The smaller process CPU's require less power to run at the same speed, example being the 65 and 45nm CPU's from Intel. A 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo running on 65nm will use more power than a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo running on 45nm. The 45nm it'll run faster too because of higher front side bus and larger cache.
