There's always been hope. People are still looking back into the past and seeing how blind they were and how ignorant they still are. It happens every day to everyone. Life is the same. The music is not.

I'm in my 20s. Simply by not being around when this song was released, I feel like I've missed out on sharing something with those close to me. Often people only appreciate the style of the moment which is a massive shame. Hopefully before long, with the likes of youtube, people's focus will change from the weekly charts to the greater catalogue of music available online. Here's hoping.

I think she must've been trying to figure out the timing in that part. She messes around with the rhythm of the syllables a lot, usually, and it must be hard to get back on the beat. The "Johnny Cash Show" version I think is technically better, and more precise, but doesn't have nearly the same vulnerability and 'realness'. But hey, that's just me.

strange -- she sounds as though she's tone deaf in this performance, maybe a blocked ear, or something. the last "life" is particularly mangled. wonder what happened. beautiful song though, and her guitar is just lovely.

I just have to say, I've been insanely in love with Joni Mitchell for nearly 40 years. I would give all my worldly possessions for one night of staring into her eyes, listening to her angelic voice... That said, this is NOT her best version of this song. In fact, I think she kinda screwed it up! Uh oh, I better duck!!

I wish I could clone her soul and spread it throughout the world.

Joni is my adult life, she's everything i have done and she's everything i have lost.

I'd say the number of hits she gets in this medium proves there's hope for newer generations. The kids are alright, its the destiny of all us oldies to find the new music strange and inferior to our own. And while the baby boomers continually remind us of how they were fantastic, when we look at the world they passed on one might well ask "Where have all the flowers gone?"
