and to be done reusing what was made back in the 60's.

I wonder what the moon walk would look like with modern digital imaging technology, I suppose those would be called fake too...
vadersky94 (January 7th, 2009 @ 4:12 am)
Yes but back to the moon is really exciting. Especially for me because I never saw the lunar landings. It would be nice if they brought foreign astronauts and females there, or even neil armstrong for old times sake like they did to john glenn.

yes the command module is reusable. At least that is what I read.

Sadly, yes.

Check out SpaceX and the Falcon 1. They are not just following the "space tourism fad", they are building rockets!

Science is going to have to hitch a ride into orbit. Build a space hotel, science will rent rooms, build an orbital factory utilizing freefall conditions for crystal perfection and science can accompany it. Science allways shows returns but it's very difficult to get investment because you can't promise what those returns will be.

Do you mean orbital velocity? Probably couldn't using magnets, But if you could get 3 or 4 miles a second at somewhere above 20,000 feet a scramjet could take over and boost you up to 4 or 5 miles per second, then pure rocket power for the last little boost. It's all about weight, anything you can take off the bottom adds to the top, it's a fascinating subject. It might be possible for a High-G catapult to launch full fuel tanks into low orbit, astronauts from station could then retrieve them.

This is the ONE SINGLE THING BUSH GOT RIGHT IN EIGHT YEARS!!!

Private space flight is more concerned with the space tourism fad, than getting science packages in space.
cornskid (December 24th, 2008 @ 2:06 pm)
they should get coorporate sponsorship and could land at Qualcom crater.
cornskid (December 24th, 2008 @ 2:03 pm)
Yeah, if you could forget everything else he'd be a hell of a President
